Summary

The Viroqua Daycare Learning Center is seeking a motivated, organized, and compassionate Assistant Director to support the daily operations of our childcare center. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, builds positive relationships with staff and families, and helps ensure the center runs smoothly and in compliance with licensing standards. Duties

• Assist the Center Director in day-to-day management and administrative tasks
• Provide leadership, coaching, and support to teaching staff
• Help manage staffing schedules, classroom ratios, and enrollment processes
• Maintain communication with families and respond to questions, concerns, and feedback
• Ensure compliance with state licensing regulations, health, and safety standards
• Support with onboarding, training, and mentoring of new staff
• Step into classrooms as needed to provide coverage and hands-on support
• Collaborate on center events, curriculum planning, and family engagement initiatives

Requirements

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (preferred)
• 2 years’ experience in a licensed childcare setting (preferred)
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience (preferred)
• Strong knowledge of state childcare licensing requirements
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• CPR/First Aid certified or willing to obtain upon hire
• Passionate about supporting children, families, and teachers
